A few years ago, we asked ourselves what had become of the outrage over George Floyd’s death, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the calls for police reform. What we found surprised us: communities, from Australia to Colombia, from South Africa to Indonesia, organizing to respond to police discrimination and secure their own rights. Grassroots political schools, internal mediation systems, community care services… where policing fails, fairer, more dignified alternatives emerge — alternatives that are truly our own. For those people, and so that these strategies can multiply and spread, we created the In Our Hands report and En nuestras manos, a Spanish-language podcast about communities uprooting police discrimination. ¡Escúchalo ahora!
