EIPR is an independent, not-for-profit human rights organization that was established in 2002 to promote and defend the personal rights and freedoms of individuals in Egypt. The organization uses research, advocacy and strategic litigation in the fields of civil and political rights, economic and social justice, and criminal justice.

EIPR works to achieve measurable impact at the domestic level and to support the building of a constituency around its thematic priorities, while at the same time actively participating in regional and international advocacy and contributing to the international human rights movement both through building strategic partnerships and through providing input in standard-setting and consensus-building processes.
