Lethal in Disguise: The Health Consequences of Crowd-Control Weapons

Respect for freedom of expression and assembly is one of the key indicators of a government’s respect for human rights and one of the pillars of modern participatory democracy. However, governments and their law enforcement authorities often repress protests with crowd-control weapons, injuring and sometimes killing protesters.

In this seminal 2016 report, Physicians for Human Rights teamed up with INCLO to prepare an exhaustive study of the main less-lethal weapons used by police forces worldwide, their characteristics, risks and harms to health and human rights.
